Elysia's restorative justice journey began as a participant in her high school's weekly circles. She was drawn to it because it normalizes conflict and reframes it as something to learn and grow from rather than a big scary thing no one should talk about. Eight years later, she is a senior facilitator in the school program. Elysia is grateful to bring connection, communication, and laughing together into school settings, and to work alongside teachers and staff to shift away from traditional punitive practices. She enjoys being creative, making and drinking coffee, and trying new places to eat.
NSRJ honours the Elders and Knowledge Holders, past, present and future, and acknowledges with gratitude that our work takes place in communities situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam First Nations.
