With over 15 years of experience in humanitarian work enhancing human rights, good governance, community development and peacebuilding, Yasser is passionate about social justice and creating safeguarded spaces for and by people where diverse voices are heard and valued. Holding a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution, he has always been advocating for marginalized communities. As a newcomer to Canada and a new member of the NSRJ family, Yasser is excited to meaningfully engage, learn and contribute to local communities' collective wellbeing. He believes in “Ubuntu,” which is an ancient African way of being, meaning “humanity to others” or “I am because you are” and that we can coexist peacefully by understanding our shared values.
NSRJ honours the Elders and Knowledge Holders, past, present and future, and acknowledges with gratitude that our work takes place in communities situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam First Nations.
